Returning to Australia after travelling scholarships, Alan Jones found new connections with his roots and new media for them.

Titled Paper and Wood: Collecting Ideas, Alan Jones’ survey exhibition looks at the past fifteen years of his practice, from winning the inaugural Pat Corrigan Travelling Art Scholarship (1997) and Brett Whiteley Travelling Art Scholarship (2004) which took him to Europe – in particular Paris and London – and his return to Australia that found a renewed connection with his family roots, convict ancestry, and search for his own belonging in the landscape.
