After a year away from the conductor’s box due to ill health, Emmy award-winning Japanese conductor Seiji Ozawa is set to pick up the baton again.

Beset by pneumonia after being treated for oesophageal cancer, the 77-year-old maestro – whose career highlights include music directorship of Vienna State Opera and being principal conductor of the Boston Symphony Orchestra – took 12 months off to regain his strength.
