What is needed to build and support a healthy and vibrant Australian book industry? Tax-free literary prizes, support for emerging writers and experimentation, and a properly funded Australia Council for starters. The shopping list was long when two panels took the question apart at the Australian Society of Authors National Writers’ Congress last week.
