When the Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art (APT) started in 1993, our relationship with our region was a very different one. It was a time when Labor Prime Minister Paul Keating was deepening the focus of Australia’s foreign policies on Asia.
The APT, however, was groundbreaking in laying the foundations for regional relationships over the next 30 years. It has expanded to become one of the most critical exhibitions globally that looks at contemporary practice in this region.
