Who’d have thought a colony of Little Penguins, more commonly known as the fairy penguin, would sit in conversation with a raw scratchy video and rap soundtrack inspired by a journey on New York’s underground?

These subjects are part of an exhibition curated by Jasmin Stephens titled Novel Ecologies, a small but compelling show at Sydney’s Cross Art Projects that explores the complicating relationship of fiction, or narration, and ‘truth’ in our natural world.
