Rockhampton Museum of Art (RMOA) opens its doors on Friday 25 February after a significant closure, a major rebrand, and a $36.5 million spend. Upon opening, it will be the largest art gallery in regional Queensland.
The new museum was scheduled to open October 2021, however that slight pandemic delay is not unusual for these times. McBurnie said it has come in on budget, adding: ‘It is an incredible achievement. If you hadn’t told me what the budget was, I would have thought a build like this would be closer to $100 million.’
