The Canberra Theatre Centre (CTC), Australia’s first multi-venue performing arts centre, is recruiting a Senior Technician to join its Staging Department. Located centrally in Civic Square, the CTC is the focal point for performing arts in Canberra, delivering a diverse program of world-class entertainment and cultural experiences to the city and surrounding region. With a new 2,000-seat lyric theatre currently under construction, the CTC is entering an exciting new era and strengthening its position as a performing arts venue of national significance.
The Staging Department delivers frontline mechanist services to presenters, hirers and audiences across the CTC’s venues. As a Senior Technician, you will play a key role in the delivery of productions and events, providing professional staging and technical services to realise the artistic and operational requirements of each production. This includes leading staging crews during bump-ins, performances and bump-outs, operating stage machinery and counterweight fly systems, and coordinating the installation, movement and storage of scenic elements and production equipment.
Working closely with presenters, hirers, touring companies and internal stakeholders, you will help deliver safe, efficient and high-quality productions. The role also contributes to the maintenance, development and continuous improvement of staging equipment and systems, while supporting the training and mentoring of technical staff. As a senior member of the staging team, you will promote a strong safety culture and ensure all activities are undertaken in accordance with relevant WHS legislation, policies and industry best practice.
The position is full-time (38 hours per week)
