The Canberra Theatre Centre (CTC), Australia’s first multi-venue performing arts centre, is recruiting a Senior Technician to join its Audio Department. Located in the heart of Civic Square, Canberra Theatre Centre is the focal point for performing arts in Canberra, delivering a diverse program of world-class entertainment and cultural experiences to the city and surrounding region. With a new 2,000-seat lyric theatre currently under construction, the Centre is entering an exciting new era and strengthening its position as a performing arts venue of national significance. The Audio Department delivers professional audio and visual services to presenters, hirers and audiences across the Canberra Theatre Centre. As a Senior Technician, you will play a key role in the delivery of productions and events, providing high-quality audio services to realise the artistic and operational requirements of each production. This includes leading crews during bump-ins, performances and bump-outs, operating and maintaining professional audio systems, mixing live performances, and coordinating the installation and configuration of audio equipment for a wide range of productions and events. Working closely with presenters, hirers, touring companies and internal stakeholders, you will help deliver safe, efficient and high-quality production outcomes. The role requires a strong understanding of audio systems, digital mixing consoles, signal distribution, networked audio infrastructure and wireless technologies, together with the ability to troubleshoot technical issues in live performance environments. You will work collaboratively with other technical departments to support the successful delivery of diverse performing arts, corporate and community events. A Senior Technician also contributes to the maintenance, development and continuous improvement of audio equipment and systems, while supporting the training and mentoring of technical staff. As a senior member of the team, you will promote a strong safety culture and ensure all activities are undertaken in accordance with relevant WHS legislation, policies and industry best practice. The position is offered on a full-time basis (38 hours per week). Note: This is a temporary full-time position available for a period of 12months, with the possibility of extension and/or permenancy. A Merit Pool may be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months.
