The Canberra Theatre Centre (CTC) is seeking an experienced technical theatre leader with strong people management skills, sound operational judgment, and a commitment to technical excellence and safety to lead its staging department during one of the most exciting periods in the organisation’s history.
As Australia’s first multi-venue performing arts centre, the CTC is the cultural heart of Canberra and the surrounding region, presenting a diverse program of world-class performing arts and entertainment. With a new 2,000-seat lyric theatre currently under construction, the CTC is entering a transformative new chapter that will cement its position as a performing arts centre of national significance.
As Head of Staging, you will provide strategic and operational leadership of the staging department, leading and developing a skilled team responsible for the safe, efficient, and professional delivery of productions across the CTC’s venues. Working closely with producers, production managers, and fellow technical department heads, you will provide expert advice on staging operations, production planning, and technical delivery. You will oversee the management, maintenance, and long-term development of staging assets and equipment, drive best-practice workplace health and safety outcomes, and contribute to the CTC’s continued evolution as it prepares for a new era of performance and audience experiences.
Leading a team of permanent and casual staging staff, you will mentor and develop technical professionals while building organisational capability to support the Centre’s expansion. As a member of the Technical leadership team, you will play a key role in shaping staging operations and fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
