One of the most popular novels of the last twelve months, Donna Tartt’s The Goldfinch has taken home the prestigious Pulitzer Prize for distinguished fiction by an American author.

The $10,000 prize is awarded to a novel that ‘preferably’ deals with American life. Tartt won for her insightful and gripping tale of a young boy who finds himself in tragic and unexpected circumstances, clinging to a piece of art as some semblance of comfort.
