Tis the season for lit award longlists it would seem. Hot on the heels of the Commonwealth Writers Prize longlist announcement, the longlists for the Kibble and Dobbie Literary Awards (collectively known as The Kibbie Awards) were announced today – the first time in the 20-year history of the award.

Now entering their third decade, the Kibbie Awards acknowledge the outstanding literary achievements of Australian women. Dr Brigid Rooney, Chair of the judging committee hopes that the awards get a little bit more attention this year, aiming to illuminate the significant role the Kibbie Awards play in the encouragement of women writers.
