Winners of The Border Art Prize 2013 announced

The annual Border Art Prize celebrates the diversity of artists in southeast Queensland and northeast New South Wales.

John Cottrell of Byron Bay has been announced the winner of The Border Art Prize 2013 for his abstract painting Maelstrom Manadala. Guest Judge Joe Furlonger selected Cottrell as the winner, saying ‘the fresh, clean neo-geo is a confident measured view of our built environment’. Cottrell was awarded $3000 for his artwork.

The entrants’ artworks can be in any media and the Prize is open to artists from Tweed Shire, Gold Coast City and adjoining Council areas of Byron and Kyogle Shires, Lismore, Logan and Redland City and Scenic Rim Regional Council.
