Violin virtuoso appointed as WAAPA’s Head of Strings

A Canadian educator and recording artist has been appointed as Associate Professor, Classical Performance.

Edith Cowan University and the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) have appointed award-winning Canadian violinist and educator, Alexandre Da Costa, to the position of Associate Professor, Classical Performance.

Da Costa was born in Montreal, Canada. A musical prodigy, he performed his first concerts at age nine, demonstrating virtuosity on both violin and piano. He has been praised by critics as ‘a lustrous and engaging soloist’ and ‘a phenomenal violinist’.
