Marie-Martine Ferrari, Co-founder of Skylark Theatre, has died after a career as a puppeteer bringing joy to children.
I met Marie-Martine soon after she arrived in Australia from Switzerland in 1980. Although she had followed in her mother’s footsteps and loved nursing, her passion was theatre and she was a mask-maker extraordinaire having done numerous workshops and shows in the Comedia de L’arte tradition. She was also an amazing stilt-walker, something Canberra had never seen at that time.
