One morning this coming Spring, ten thousand pink balloons will fill the city of Kabul. As inhabitants of the Afghan capital city make their way to work, over a hundred volunteers will distribute these balloons as symbols of hope and beauty, and peace and happiness.

Event organiser and New York-based artist Yazmany Arboleda said the actual date will be a surprise. ‘Once people will wake up, they will see an explosion of colours,’ he told a news conference on Monday.
