Having showcased artists from the United States in last year’s Metropolis New Music Festival, this April the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and the Melbourne Recital Centre invite audiences to explore the sounds of contemporary London. Key to the development of this program is British composer, conductor and pianist Thomas Adès who curates and directs the festival.
MSO Managing Director André Gremillet said Adès is ‘simply one of the greatest musicians of this century and everyone here at the MSO is thrilled to have the chance to work with him’. The prodigious Adès is known for pushing musical boundaries and was only 36 when the Barbican Arts Centre in London presented a retrospective festival of his work.
