From opera to blues, this week’s program announcements have it all.
The Victorian Opera’s 2014 season will include an opera adaptation of a Tim Winton novel and other Australian premieres.
In what appears to be an attempt to modernise an heritage art form, the 2014 program features a world premiere of an opera adaptation of The Riders, a novel by Tim Winton. Making sure to keep the traditionalists happy, the program also includes an Australian premiere of Fondazione Pergolesi Spontini’s La Traviata. Inspired by classic and contemporary literature, the company’s 2014 Season ‘Chapter Two’ will engage with the young and old. To read the rest of the program, read our full story.
