Musicians will no longer be able to browse the largest Australian music collection when the Australian Music Centre closes its doors as a physical library today.

AMC is packing up thousands of scores and CDs and moving house but sending 20,000 items to storage in a Balmain warehouse.

The move is partly a considered decision to go digital but has been pushed forward by a reduction in funding and changed policy environment that has forced the AMC to warehouse much of its collection before it has digitised the music.
