In screen news this week, an acclaimed series returns and new funding is announced.

In late 2012 Redfern Now captivated Australia with the powerful stories of Indigenous households in Sydney’s Redfern and has now received five 2013 AACTA Award Nominations, including Best Television Drama Series and Best Screenplay in Television. It is powerful viewing, and refreshing for Australian audiences to experience contemporary Indigenous life in urban Sydney. The first season presented six episodes, which each individually addressed the flow-on and fall-out of dramatic incidents in the Redfern neighbourhood.
