Pulitzer prize winning author Jane Smiley has been added to the Mildura Writers’ Festival program.

Smiley is a novelist and essayist who won the Pulitzer prize for fiction in 1992 for her novel A Thousand Acres, which is based on Shakespeare’s King Lear. She has written both fiction and non-fiction works and in 2001 was elected as a member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters. Smiley also contributes to many publications and websites including The New Yorker, Elle, The New York Times and The Guardian.
