Policy unveiled to back ACT’s cultural ambitions

With a $10 million budget boost and $28.44 million for the redevelopment of Canberra Theatre Centre, the state has embarked on its ambition to become the arts capital.

In October last year, the Government of the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) announced the territory’s ambition to become Australia’s arts capital, starting off with a $10 million budget boost.

The Statement of Ambition, published 1 October 2021, highlighted three strategies to CREATE, DEVELOP and PROMOTE the state’s arts and cultural scene.
