Opera Australia postpones Phantom of the Opera until 2022

Advance ticket sales of $20M could not save the blockbuster musical from the real phantom stalking our arts centres: COVID-19.

Opera Australia has been forced to cancel the Sydney and Melbourne seasons of The Phantom of the Opera due to the ongoing disruption caused by COVID-19.

Andrew Lloyd Webber’s popular musical, based on the 1910 book by French author and journalist Gaston Leroux, was scheduled to open at the Sydney Opera House in September and Arts Centre Melbourne in November.
