The newly-formed MCA Foundation has made its first purchase for the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia’s permanent collection.

Gordon Bennett’s painting Home Décor (Relative/Absolute) Flowers for Mathinna #2 (1999), has recently been unveiled on the museum’s Level 2 Galleries, alongside the MCA’s Volume One:MCA Collection.  The inclusion of Bennett within the collection reflects the Museum’s curation of modern Australian art.  Since his first major solo exhibition in 1989, Bennett’s work has been central to the contemporary Australian art scene and he has been recognised internationally for works that engage with a colonial past and post-colonial present.
