Arts Victoria has produced a guide with has tips for both artists and communities in how to make the relationship work.

Making Art with Communities: A Work Guide aims to help communities develop effective arts projects by advising communities what to look for in artists and artists how to identify a suitable organisation for collaboration.

It notes artists can work with communities undertaking the role of facilitators, trainers, interpreters, consultants, mentors or project managers.
