Australia Council chairman Rupert Myer said although there was originally only Fellowship funding for the equivalent of five awards, the Council had committed to the additional fellowships after being impressed by the exceptional quality of applications.
Creative Australia Fellowships give each established artist $100,000 for one year while early career artists receive $60,000 over two years, amounting to a total funding pool of $860,000.
