Whether they reflect new trends bubbling up, or are long practising artists finally getting some visibility in 2024, these craft and design curators share their thoughts on who to keep an eye on this year.

Selected by: Nicole Durling, Executive Director of Craft Victoria.

Why: Placed firmly in expanded practice, Louise Meuwessin’s meticulously deliberate work is driven by a strong sense of history and craft processes. She creates intricate embroidered paintings, sculptures, installations and wearable art. With a background in painting, and concerned with texture, composition and colour, Meuwessin now “paints” with found materials of yarns, beads and textiles.
