Preparing the audience through tailored programming and introductory encounters can change a community’s experience of a performance, a panel on community engagement at the recent Australia Council marketing summit was told.

The panel examined a case study of the recent Western Australian tour of Danielle Micich’s work Shiver, a contemporary dance theatre project about loss, as a starting point for a discussion on the power of community engagement for potent audience development.
