The Benalla Nude Art Prize 2014 offers artists $50,000 for the best nude.
‘Benalla Nude will be one of the longest-running, really big art events in Australia, and a significant art event for the region,’ Benalla-based artist Ivan Durrant told Art Almanac.
Durrant expects the competition to be a boost for the town. He told MMG that he predicts between 20,000 and 50,000 people will come to the gallery to see entrants’ work. ‘This is a really unique thing to put us on the map and see us compete with the Archibald. The Archibald has magic in its history — our magic is in making the whole town Benalla Nude.’
