Music in the Davidson family runs back generations. Hamish Davidson, one half of the Davidson Brothers, combines his Scottish roots with his Gippsland upbringing and in doing so has managed to master a variety of musical genres. With the Tamworth Country Music Festival just around the corner and the weather tuning itself up for some porch banjo strumming perfection, what better time to catch up with one half of Australia’s prestigious country music duo?

Davidson is only 27 years of age but has a swag of musical achievements under his belt – not only that, but when he’s not cracking a guitar neck he’s cracking backs as a chiropractor. The chiropracting isn’t a cash-heavy hobby to keep the music going, not at all. “It’s not a financial decision it’s a decision based on how we want to live our lives,” says Davidson of he and his brother’s decision to hold down steady ‘regular’ jobs (younger brother Lachlan is an engineer).
