Anyone living in Melbourne and part of the local theatre scene will know who Alison Croggon is. Her theatre blog Theatre Notes is widely read and discussed by those in the business, and her commentary in general is seen to offer a more thoughtful and transparent take on what’s going on in the theatre world, than anything regularly found in the commercial papers.

Alison Croggon started out intending to make her mark more as a poet than a theatre critic or commentator even though in 2009, she was named Geraldine Pascall Critic of the Year. And when ArtsHub asked Alison Croggon whether she could talk to us about her experience as an arts critic, she laughed and said, “I’m not sure I am the sort of critic you might be interested in…”
