Building on its achievements in health promotion and illness prevention, VicHealth’s Active Arts Strategy 2014-2017 was launched in Melbourne on Wednesday, in partnership with Arts Victoria.

In light of evidence that more than two-thirds of Australians do not engage in physical activity, despite the health risks associated with our increasingly sedentary lifestyles, the new strategy aims to encourage physical activity through active engagement with the arts; build both individual and community resilience; build the evidence for arts-based health promotion; and stimulate public debate and lead policy development for arts-based health promotion.
