Winners of 2017 Sidney Myer Performing Arts Awards announced

Leading practitioners in the Australian arts community have been honoured at the prestigious Sidney Myer Performing Arts Awards.

Three leading arts practitioners picked up awards at the 2017 Sidney Myer Performing Arts Awards in Brisbane on Wednesday, the 34th year the event has been running.

This year’s awards were announced by Carrillow Ganter AO, Chair of the Sidney Myer Fund with judges including Brian Ritchie (Curator, MOFO, TAS); Christie Anthoney (Director, Festivals South Australia, SA); David Berthold (Artistic Director, Brisbane Festival QLD); and Terri-Anne White (CEO, UWA Publishing, WA). Playwright and actor Kate Mulvany, who has starred in The Great Gatsby and played lead roles with major Australian Theatre companies, won the Individual Award of $60,000. She said the prize will continue to motivate her to achieve success.
