Aussie art fairs face slippery environment of knock backs

Four art fairs deliver COVID updates this week - some positive, others pivoting. Three art fairs announce their pivot online this week, while a fourth re-gears for 2022 with a long burn narrative.

Sydney Contemporary (NSW), Tarnanthi Art Fair (SA), Melbourne Art Fair (VIC), as well as the regional event Bathurst Art Fair (NSW), all delivered announcements this week – some positive, others pivoting.

It would appear that while vaccination rates indicate a promised opening up of arts events in the immediate future, the lack of a firm guarantee when, has offered little surety for logistically complex events like art fairs to confidently go ahead in person.
