Head of a Man, National Gallery of Victoria
In a first for Nazi restitution claims in Australia, the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) will return the well-known Head of a Man to heirs of its original owners, who now live in South Africa. The announcement came after the Gallery received proof that the painting, originally thought to be a Van Gogh, had been forcibly sold in Amsterdam during World War II.
