Brazil’s Culture Minister, Marta Suplicy, this week announced the government’s new initiative to promote widespread access to culture. Under the new plan, workers will receive $25 a month to spend on cultural-related activities or products. Particularly aimed at the country’s poorest citizens, the new policy provides a cultural stipend for those otherwise excluded from seeing films, watching plays or attending concerts.
