Cabaret began as a youthful risqué form of entertainment but now it’s a struggle to interest the under 30s.

Only 3.8% of the audience at last year’s Adelaide Cabaret Festival were under 30 and almost 50% were over 55. Although last year’s Adelaide Cabaret Festival enjoyed record-breaking success, with a 12% increase on its 2011 box office takings and an estimated attendance of 95,000 people, young people were visibly absent.
