Indigenous artist and community leader, Nyuramayia Nampitjinpa died near her ancestral home of Punkilpirri in Western Australia on January 28.
Affectionately known as Mrs. Bennett after marrying John John Bennet, Nampitjinpa was considered to be energetic and enthusiastic, attributes that were apparent in her art. Despite only beginning to paint and exhibit in the mid-1990s, her input and presence was instrumental to the Haasts Bluff/Kintore painting camp in 1994.
