If the food doesn’t sell you, the location certainly will. Take a seat in The Source restaurant and you’ll find yourself overlooking the beautiful River Derwent, only moments away from the museum and Tasmania’s 2nd oldest vineyard.

The French-inspired cuisine is some of the best Tasmania has to offer, matched only in quality by its excellent wine list. Head chef Philippe Leban is world-renowned for his culinary skills, having worked in numerous Michelin-starred restaurants and alongside Alain Passard in France, and Guillaume Brahimi in Sydney.

The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner, with a menu that often includes crab, quail, oyster and duck, and a stunning dessert menu to finish off with. For the veggie lovers out there, The Source restaurant has certainly kept you in mind whilst putting together its excellent menu, offering some great vegetarian options.

For those who aren’t too sure what wine will best accompany their meal, sommelier Joseph Burton will be more than happy to help. A true expert on wine, Burton is a member of the International Sommeliers Guild and a five time state division winner of the Gourmet Traveller Wine magazine’s wine list of the year award.

The restaurant’s extensive wine list includes a large variety of white and red wines, including Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon, whilst also catering for the bubbly, beer and spirits lovers out there.

To help make the experience a truly satisfying one, experts suggest that visitors choose 5, 7 or 9 small courses (all of which can be altered to fulfill special dietary needs), and allow Joseph Burton to offer his suggestions on the best wine to suit your meal and tastes.

So if you’re full of art but your stomach is still grumbling, The Source restaurant is sure to be able to provide you with a dining experience that will be remembered long after the last bite.
