Taking risks where the state companies can’t

Five new Australian works will be presented by Griffin Theatre in 2016, a testament to the flexibility of smaller companies.

Griffin Theatre Company’s Artistic Director, Lee Lewis, very much sees her role – and that of Griffin itself – as a creative risk-taker.

‘That’s our job. We work for the state theatre companies in that way, in that we take the risks that they can’t. And then when we successfully deliver a production for a playwright and for the audience, then the trust in that playwright and Australian plays grow,’ shetold ArtsHub.
