Twelve feature films have made the cut for the sixth Official Competition prize awarded by a jury of five headed by Hugo Weaving.

To make the cut to be considered for the Official Competition in the Sydney Film Festival the feature films must demonstrate ‘emotional power and resonance; are audacious, cutting-edge, courageous; and go beyond the usual treatment of the subject matter.’ Hugo Weaving heads the jury of five international and Australian filmmakers and industry professionals who have the job of finding the finest film fictional or real to earn the accolades and the $60,000 cash prize to be presented at the SFF’s Closing Night ceremony on Sunday 16 June.
