The best Australian writing from the past year was revealed today when Prime Minister Julia Gillard and Arts Minister Tony Burke announced the shortlist for the 2013 Prime Minister’s Literary Awards.

The sixth edition of the Awards celebrates the country’s best works in fiction, poetry, non-fiction, history, young adult and children’s fiction published in 2012.
