Russell Crowe has agreed to host the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) Awards Night, scheduled to take place on January 30. The original host, Hugh Sheridan, has been forced to cancel due to a scheduling problem with an event in Los Angeles.

Crowe will return to Sydney for the AACTA Awards Ceremony after hosting the Academy’s International Awards in California. AACTA CEO Damien Trewhella has commented: ‘That Russel is hosting two events for the Australian Academy in LA and Sydney within the space of a week attests to both his support of the Australian Screen Industry and his leadership with AACTA.’
