Overseas performers agreement close – but only for some

Actors Equity is close to agreement with the subsidised theatre sector over overseas performers but no comprehensive deal is on the horizon.

Last September Live Performance Australia walked away from a long-standing agreement that regulated the conditions for using imported performers in live performances.

The dissolution of the agreement prompted a protest from last year’s Helpmann award winners  and  criticism that Australia was returning to the cultural cringe.
