For its 60th season, the Melbourne Theatre Company (MTC) has launched two important new initiatives, one designed to address the lack of gender diversity on Australia’s mainstages, the other aiming to make theatre more accessible to culturally diverse audiences, as well as a strong program featuring new works by Australian playwrights such as Brendan Cowell, Joanna Murray-Smith, and Working Dog Productions (Santo Cilauro, Tom Gleisner and Rob Sitch).

‘Next year our season illuminates stories and artists, firing the imaginations of our audience, both in Melbourne and beyond. We present some of the finest storytelling imaginable across more than 550 performances on our stages to entertain, challenge and delight you. This season sees MTC collaborate with a range of thrilling artists and companies ensuring a vibrant and dynamic year of theatre,’ Artistic Director Brett Sheehy said in a statement.
