Iconic live music venue, the Corner Hotel may be under threat by a proposed 13 level apartment tower planned for the area.

The planned building has 43 serviced apartments and a basement café. Located at 63-65 Swan Street, in Richmond, the tower will be directly across from the Corner Hotel, situated at number 57 Swan Street.

The current planning laws in Victoria state that residential buildings take precedence over music or party venues in regards to noise complaints. This could set up the Corner for some serious fines, or quite hefty bills to pay for soundproofing, or worse still, possible closure.
