The Australian Centre for Contemporary Art (ACCA) runs education programs and activities for schools and tertiary groups and for the public and community groups. Taking the view that contemporary art should be made as accessible and as interesting as it can to the widest range of audiences possible. And it’s not just the art involved, the programs extend to artists and ideas.

Ideas, for instance, that is the subject of a public program coming up in July called the isms presented by ACCA artistic director Juliana Engberg with guest speakers Edward Colless, Callum Morton and Anthony White starting with Realism, then Impressionism, Surrealism, Abstract Expressionism, Minimalism and so on to a movement ACCA coined all by itself called Nowism. The public programs are run on Wednesday evenings. Drawing classes coincide with each of the five exhibition seasons in the year in a range of formats for each session that might be life drawing one session and sculptural drawing the next, using the high quality fine art paper, pencils and charcoal provided.
