3MBS presents Beethoven Marathon

Fine music community radio station 3MBS will host a Beethoven Sonata Marathon on Sunday 3 March. The Marathon will see all 32 of Beethoven’s sonatas performed back-to-back in one day, for the first time in Australia.

The Beethoven Sonata Marathon will feature 28 pianists performing over a period of 14 hours.

Musical highlights will include Eidit Golder’s performance of Sonata 24 ‘Les Adieux’, Ian Munro’s performance of Sonata 17 ‘Tempest’, Kathryn Selby performing Sonata 8 ‘Pathetique’, Amir Farid performing Sonata 13 ‘Quasi una Fantasia’ and Kristian Chong’s interpretation of Sonata 29 ‘Hammerklavier’. Another act drawing attention is 16 year-old Adoria Li, who will perform Sonata 14 ‘Moonlight’.
