In 2011 ArtsHub launched the inaugural ArtsHub Awards. We received a great response with 72 shortlisted finalists and the 6 winners were announced in December 2011. Developed to recognise those who create and support work that is exciting, engaging, challenging or simply excellent and to offer recognition of unique and upcoming Australian artists, the ArtsHub Awards aims to encourage and recognise creativity and achievement in all areas of the arts.

In the 2011 awards, we had a high standard of entrants ranging from the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, who took home the award for Achievement in the Arts for its Beethoven Festival, to smaller organisations and individuals such as Leigh Pyman, who won the People’s Choice award for Innovation for interactive learning resource Phonetic Pillows, which assists students to physically explore speech sounds.
