‘It’s an Australian play’: how a new CALD theatre company is turning the tables on diversity

Akaraka by Igbo Australian playwright Amarachi Logo, will soon get its long-awaited debut at The Substation, presented by new Melbourne-based theatre company, Empty Seat Theatre.

‘We’re trying to make change as a company,’ says Nguyen. ‘We’re trying to create a blueprint, especially for culture-specific work, because it requires a lot of resources and a different way of thinking than the traditional theatrical process of just putting on a show.’
