Inside Australia’s first fire-proof gallery

Calling itself ‘a reimagined art destination’ leading its reopening in March, Bundanon is set to live up to that ambition.

As the marketing spiel explains: ‘Bundanon is many things.’

Bundanon CEO Rachel Kent elaborates, ‘We are soon to be a national and international attraction – it is an absolute destination here … (it’s) very much a new chapter in Bundanon’s evolution.’

Just two weeks after devastating bushfires had swept through NSW’s South Coast in January 2020 – reaching within just a kilometre of the historic property – Federal Minister for the Arts, the Hon Paul Fletcher, broke ground on the site.
